O filho de mil homens”, the new novel by Valter Hugo Mãe, will be presented today at Livraria Ler Devagar, in Lisbon. For this event, I was invited by the publishers Editora Objectiva to paint a reproduction of the book’s cover on the bookshop’s massive door, and documented the process on a short time lapse video.

As a kid, I would spend all my school recesses and lunch breaks quietly reading in a corner. (No, I wasn’t very popular with the other kids…). I used to spend the Summer holidays with my grandparents and Avó Lena would take me to the local library, where I ‘d pick some old classics from the children’s section, with the help of an even older librarian. Needless to say, I loved the Famous Five, the Secret Seven, and anything else by Enid Blyton but I particularly liked the O’Sulivan Twins - As Gémeas, in portuguese.
