25.08.2008 / Fábrica do Braco de Prata
I was expecting a seriously dull weekend. With most of my friends out of Lisbon or otherwise busy, I was in a mood for partying, but had no plans whatsoever. Then, out of the blue, a friend I hadn’t seen in ages came to my rescue, and I ended up having an awesome time, two nights in a row.

29.01.2008 / Emir Kusturica and The No Smoking Orquestra
Saturday, 26th January 2008, Coliseu dos Recreios - Lisbon.
What a great night! The No Smoking Orchestra play music-to-make-you-happy, which the people who name these sort of things decided to call “Gypsy techno-rock”.
As expected, the show was as much a rock concert as it was a circus act, with a big ensemble of quirky characters, part musicians part jugglers and clowns, who mesmerise us with their theatrics while spellbinding us with their crazy tunes.
I’m still shouting “Pitbull… Terrier!”
10.01.2008 / Extreme snogging
Favourite song of the moment, I keep whistling to its tune. I guess I’m in serious need of proper kissing.

08.01.2008 / Gigs ahead
The Cure are coming to town! Being one of those bands I totally ignored when I was a teenager and people around me were going nuts about them, I never got to see them live, and was starting to worry I never would. The ticket is safely bought now, so it’s looking like I will be able to cross them out of my list of never attended gigs. Another band coming off that list is Emir Kusturica’s, in three weeks, which should be a great concert as well.
As expected, 2008 is looking good from here. I wonder what surprises will the Summer festivals bring.
08.11.2007 / Interpol
Yesterday’s Interpol gig in Lisbon’s Coliseu dos Recreios was great. I was a tad too tired to join the crowd and jump like a teenager, which is how I always behave like in concerts, but we found a very nice sitting spot with a good view of the stage and enjoyed every minute of it.
I usually also fall in love with the lead singer - at least for a few hours - but although the über-cool Paul Banks looks great and has an amazing and strange dry voice, he seems too cold and mechanic to be human. And I’m not one to fall for aliens…
