18.05.2008 / Creamy lime mousse
It’s tart, it’s sweet, it’s yummy, but most importantly, it’s fast.
Sometimes, you just don’t have the time for a very complicated dessert, do you? Well, I had planned to do something quite daring and challenging this weekend, but with all the work I’ve got on, I opted for something quick and easy instead. I love limes, but this recipe works very well with lemons too. One of these days, I will also try it with oranges, although I’m not sure they are acidic enough to make it work.
Creamy Lime Mousse
1 can of condensed milk
1 can of evaporated milk
Juice of 5 limes (or 3 lemons)
In a bowl, mix the condensed and the evaporated milk until well blended. Graduallt add the lime juice, always stirring. As if by magic, the juice will make the mixture thicken. Pour into serving cups and garnish with lime zest, and, if have a bit of time to spare, drizzle with…
Lime caramel sauce
3 tbps brown sugar
Jiuce of one lime
In a small saucepan, mix the sugar with the lime juice, and mix over low heat just for a few minutes, until it thickens up a bit. If you leave it too long, it will end up solidifying over the mousse, and stick to your teeth, so be careful no to overdo it.
••• Update •••
Right after I posted this recipe, I found out about Sugar High Fridays, a monthly event created by The Domestic Goddess and hosted this month by Tartelette. By coincidence, the theme for the month is citrus, so this post is right on time to take part. Does it count if it was by accident?
