Despite being locomotively challenged because of the accident, yesterday I still managed to check out the eagerly awaited opening of the TB Store in Lisbon - our own, if unofficial, Apple Store.
Apart from the name on the store front, and the smaller size, it’s not very different from all the other Apple Stores around the world: the ample uncluttered space with the all the Mac models lined up for us to play follows strict Apple guidelines and looks the part. In good Portuguese tradition, it wasn’t quite finished yet, but I was told it will also feature a nice chill out area with comfy seating and wi-fi. On the top floor there is a small auditorium for workshops and demos, and I’m quite interested in seeing what the program will be for that space.
The opening party was very hip and celebrity ridden, as expected. I got to meet Portuguese singer Tiago Bettencourt, which i really like, but hopefully, my inner teenager didn’t show too much and I only giggled a little bit.
After the party, we moved to a sushi bar to fill up and watch the Portugal-Germany match. Our team put up a good fight in the end, but sadly wasn’t good enough. Well done to get this far, anyway. However, it was funny to see the Chinese restaurant staff all excited with the play, rooting for out team, way more involved in it than we were. (hey, who cares about football with all that sushi around?)
So, we’re out of the competition, but on the bright side… all the Euro related chatter, news programs air time and repetitive advertising will now cool down and normal life will resume. Phew…
